Economic Development Conference

Final planning for the joint economic development conference was getting done just before the Independence Day holiday. A diverse group of individuals have been working organize the one-day conference on July 11 at Bert Harte High School. We have been working with the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce since the second joint meeting of the Board of Supervisors and City Council. I believe this conference will be a critical milestone in revitalizing the Calaveras economy while addressing the core quality of life issues. I continue to promote a balance approach to development -- sustainable communities with good jobs, local shopping options, and positive senses of place and neighbors.

There are seven tracks within the conference. They cover the range of economic sectors and issues. I'm sure you would find an area of interest to you. In addition, there will be plenary sessions with guest speakers to expand our understanding of opportunities to boot-strap our local economy. Please come to support local businesses and consumers as we seek to chart a positive course during the down times.
